While many brands opt out to savour the precious moments of American Thanksgiving with heart-warming videos that show the spirit of one of the most family-oriented holidays of the year, others opt to show how people actually get together and celebrate the tradition of cooking a great meal at home with their closest ones. And then, there’s one brand that decided to take a completely new look at the Thanksgiving dinner – with a drone. And we don’t mean just hovering over your favourite place and recording how you prepare the delicious feast; or merely using to drone to shoot epic lava videos, conduct roof inspections or make tearing marriage proposals.
Autel Robotics actually use their X‑Star Premium drone to cook the Thanksgiving dinner.
As November 24th fast approaches, the drone company based in Bothell, USA, and Shenzhen, China, used their distinctive orange aircraft to help out in their customers’ kitchen with all the stress produced during the whole day of cooking and came up with a recipe for a full Thanksgiving dinner. And although the whole process is really messy, and the fact that some of the modules and attached gadgets don’t actually exist, it still makes it look like great fun. So, according to their website, all you will need is:
- 1 Autel Robotics X‑Star Premium and remote controller
- 1 Middle-Ages-style glove (Safety first!)
- Potatoes, carrots, turkey, parsley, whipping cream, instant pumpkin pie mix, gravy mix, butter, and rolls
- A LOT of cleaning supplies.
As you can tell this is not a traditional drone video, set to some crazy dubstep tune, with plenty of HD flyovers and cheese sunset shots. Moreover to the fact that the unit used in the ad still functioned perfectly during a shoot the following day, Autel Robotics is giving the X‑Star Premium model $200 off its regular price for the holidays. You can find more information and the full recipe here, or watch the ‘traditional drone’ video below.
There are plenty of Thanksgiving adverts, but as the following Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade advert – created by BBH New York — shows us, it’s really time (not just for drones) to take off and get ready for Christmas.
