Interactive websites are a great way of presenting various products – you can take a Mirage 4 for a night ride or even go on an online hiking trip to Maine. Top 25 independent agency BVK worked with Maine Office of Tourism to present an interactive experience that reflects travel experience that the northeastmost state of the United States known for its rocky coastlines, numerous parks, and reserves, has to offer. Together they introduced a top-grade online, media rich e-zine that allows readers to step into a part of Maine’s iconic culture and lifestyle – from Acadia National Park, local food movement that include beers & lobsters, to hiking through the Thoreau-Wabanaki trail – called Maine Thing Quarterly.
For the latest edition of the feature publication BVK produced a series of videos brilliantly embedded into a full website experience; that just watching the videos would make you miss a digitalised experience of Maine’s wonders while non-intrusively advertising L.L.Bean’s outdoor gear. The page itself presents an immersive and detailed story of a group of six travellers who embark on a journey throughout Maine’s wilderness while chasing the sun itself. The group takes on a series of adventures – camping at Recompence Shore Campground, paddle-boarding at the Royal River towards Goose Island, cliff jumping 25 feet into Coos Canyon, hiking up the Tumbledown Mountain – and also tries catching something else then the sun, fish.
You can see the time of the day, what phase the sun is while admiring beautiful stills by Erin Little and skilled shooting by Trade-mark R Productions. You can also read and watch what the group talked about, what were their best experiences and also, when you look closely, find that the GPS coordinates change throughout the whole experience. So, if you’re more experienced outdoor enthusiast, and like any of those locations, you can write those down and chase the sun in Maine yourself.
