In the night of the Halloween weekend, Burger King decided to take their Halloween game to a completely new level by disguising one of their location in New York as a ghost. And not just a normal, white-caped spirit. In the latest stunt by agency David in Miami, the burger chain mocks McDonald’s with a white sheet makeover.
A Burger King location in Queens, New York, was covered in billowing white sheets and trolling BK’s biggest rival with a special sign that reads: “BOOOOO! Just kidding. We still flame grill our burgers. Happy Halloween.” Although the stunt was limited to a single BK location at Queens Blvd, it is clear, that the BK corporate is involved, as it has posted an unlisted video ‘Scariest BK’ to their YouTube channel.
This creepy stunt was coordinated by agency David in Miami and restaurant’s customers were also surprised by re-done packaging with a scary note. At this point, it might seem that the agency has something against BK’s rivals as it also helped to search the globe for the world’s biggest fans of BK’s competitor’s most famous burger.
These fans were so crazy about it, they had it tattooed on their bodies – so, the agency invited them to try the new Big King, and if they liked it, a professional tattoo artist Ami James would give their old displays of burger affection a makeover by providing them with BK’s signature grill marks and changing the competitor’s products into Big King ones.
As you can see, it is not the for first time Burger King is brilliantly teasing McDonald’s – anyone remembers BK’s Peace Day proposal for the creation of McWhopper? They are also not the first company to ‘take a mick’ of their biggest competitors – a couple of years ago Belgian agency Buzz in a Box created this costume for Pepsi:
