Did you know you can be cool and trendy without spending a single dime? Although it seems hard to believe, Switzerland’s largest menswear manufacturer Strellson has just launched the world’s first online shop where you can use your likes as a payment alternative. All you need is a Facebook account and some virtual besties who are willing to pay for your clothes.
In partnership with German agency Serviceplan Campaign X, the Kreuzlingen-based fashion brand makes its presence felt among Internet users in an original way. The “Strellson Like-Shop,” as it is called, invites fashion enthusiasts to reach to their ‘like piggy-bank’ to pay for the clothes, without spending a dime from their account, but rather leave it as it is, intact.
In terms of design, the site is built in a similar way as the official online store of the fashion brand. The 10-15 different products available under this promotion are part of Strellson’s current Spring/Summer collection and can be purchased by people all over the world.
Here it’s how it works: in order to get one of the products available on the site, first, you have to choose what would you like to wear. Then, you have to share the clothing item via a personalized Facebook post. Finally, you’ll need to encourage your friends to ‘donate’ their likes. You can be stylish with just a few likes: instead of paying almost 50 €, a shirt costs only 50 likes; a pair of pants is 80 social ‘thumbs-ups’; while a fancy suit takes you up to 350 likes. Have you already posted your desired garment to your wall?
The Like-Shop is the first-of-its-kind place, where customers can pay using just Facebook’s ‘special’ button. Remember, the first one who gets the required number of likes gets the piece of clothing. So, don’t’ waste another minute! Each item is available in the store only once. But if you miss out on ‘purchasing’ it with likes, you can still buy the required product the old-fashioned way: by using real money.
By launching this project, the fashion brand wishes to emphasize the importance of social media in the communication strategy, how it can be successfully used to strengthen the online community, and moreover how beneficial it can be for brand recognition.
“The platform represents another milestone on Strellson’s path to winning over the digital target group. To address these “digital natives”, the Like Shop skillfully deploys the mechanisms of social media, making online shopping an entertaining challenge and encouraging young men to shop in a completely new way,” proclaims the Munich-based agency, that started as a division of Serviceplan in January 2015 and launched as an independent creative agency in July 2016.
The modern shop project comes after another one of their successful campaign made for the premium fashion brand. To promote the Autumn/Winter 2016 collection, Serviceplan Campaign X created the “Make Yourself Unstoppable” music video that celebrates passionately individual men who follow their own instincts and look for new challenges.
The ad was launched on 5th September to mark the day of Freddy Mercury‘s 70th birthday. At its center lays one of the Queen‘s most famous songs. The classic “Don’t Stop Me Now” originally released in 1979, this time reinterpreted by MNEK, represents Strellson’s way to encourage men to become unstoppable and let nothing stand in their way.
