One of the most popular games ever made and probably the most-played in the world, Minecraft, recently announced that its players will continue to build and explore its pixelated world with the help of two cute, fluffy, and adorable characters.
At first, the announcement made the players wonder who that might be: Santa Clause and Rudolph? Actually no. In the winter of 2018 and with Christmas just a few weeks away, Minecraft did not give in to the seasonal clichés and instead introduces two of the internet’s most beloved animals into the popular game: Cats and Pandas.
But this cute change doesn’t come by itself. To indulge users’ senses even more, the video game company joined forces with creative agency 215 McCann and complemented this highly-expected surprise with an unusual 8-bit visual adventure. This new experience lets Minecraft players immerse themselves in a fabulous world, where they get to see what’s going in the mind of one of the two most beloved animals in the world.
The San Francisco-based agency worked hard to tell “An Original Tall Tale” of the two cuddly animals. In the beginning, everything unfolds on a smaller scale, with the main protagonists and their armies of friends contoured in the authentic Minecraft style. So, let’s see how the blocky story goes, shall we? And it’s not just about cuteness.
“Cats & Pandas: A Minecraft Fable of Friendship” is all about cats and pandas and the unusual relationship between them. Suddenly a ‘nap-off’ goes wrong, and thus the two species don’t get along very much. As time passes, they mind their own business: pandas remain almost hidden in the jungle, whilst cats star in internet videos. But, at last, their century-long feud is put at peace, after many failed attempts. Curious how? Just watch the video below!
“The Paws and Claws” summit is the moment that the Minecraft fans have been long waiting for. The two rival groups finally find a common ground thanks to a game developer who knew exactly what to do to help the communities “co-purr and co-growl in harmony.” How cute is that? 215 McCann is fortunately that creative that it has actually found a way to make the two creatures reconcile and set aside their differences. Not to mention that it has managed to make the fans become part of such a memorable fable…
The 3-minute-long video premiered at X018, an Xbox event, on November 10th. It is also available on Minecraft’s owned and operated channels. So, gaming (or cute animal) fans, you have had plenty of time to follow the fable of friendship and choose a side. You are either a cat person or a panda one. Actually, maybe we could all agree to co-exist in peace, just like the two cute groups, at least until another ‘nap-off’.
