Burger King tried to wrap up 2020 earlier last year by throwing a Christmas party in the middle of summer. But now that the year is finally and officially over, the brand is wondering what’s next? On an uncertain background like the one experienced last year, we can have our doubts and suspicions when it comes to the future, right? Will we pay for oxygen? Will aliens invade us? Or will robots rule the Earth?
Predicting what is going to happen can be hard, yet the fast-food chain gave it a try: No matter what the future holds, people can send a delicious dish to themselves in the future, so “that at least one good thing will happen!”
Do you know the amazing feeling that embraces you when finding money in the pocket of an old jacket of yours? It’s like a gift you gave to your future self without even knowing! Those five bucks aren’t much, but they surely brighten up your day and make you feel victorious. Some BK customers might experience similar feelings in the future as well, as the brand invites them to surprise themselves with a Whopper, a surprise that is programmed to happen, let’s say, five years from now — it’s up to the consumers when they want to experience this little BK joy in their lives.
Created with the help of agency Buzzman, the “Whopper to the Future” campaign is available as of 30th December 2020 and “extends up” to 100.000 people. Using the Burger King app, users are invited to reserve a Whopper and then choose the date when they want to pamper themselves with this mouth-watering treat from the brand. Burger lovers will then eventually have to go to a BK restaurant to pick up their presents based on a QR code. Consumers have ten years at their disposal, the last day they can choose to receive their meal on being December 31st, 2030.
We don’t know what the future holds for us but isn’t it awesome that in all this uncertainty there’s something delicious we can be sure about?
