Ahead of the highly anticipated “Jurassic World Dominion” — which will hit the big screen in the US on June 10th — the sustainable fashion and lifestyle brand Accompany treats fans of the franchise to a surprise that will bring them closer to this world whilst also helping disempowered communities of artisans thrive economically. All carefully crafted by Indian and Nepalese artists, this Dino-inspired collection, known as The Jurassic World x Accompany and released via a partnership with NBC Universal, is about some of the most popular animals that lived throughout much of the Jurassic period and how this species, although extinct, can be a muse to marginalized communities of artisans.
The dinosaurs and humans will learn to interact and live with each other in Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment‘s film, a theme that’s further explored in this original collection. Including handcrafted homewares and accessories for adults and kids, all designed by non-profits in the Asian countries, the sustainable goods product line — which hit shelves May 20th — is promoted via a campaign made by Accompany Creative, Accompany’s sister creative agency.
Infused with visual and audio references from the movie, the short film lies at the intersection between the prehistoric and ancient past and focuses on the artisans’ present. Showcasing the handcrafting process the artists are following to create their goods, the video is aimed at spreading the word about the line of merchandise.
“We are so grateful to Universal and Amblin for collaborating with us on this pioneering collection,” Jason Keehn, Founder of Accompany and Accompany Creative, said. “With our team’s branded design and storytelling expertise, we were able to translate the core DNA and spirit of Jurassic World into the design language of artisan craft and purposeful lens of community empowerment.”
“At Accompany, we see a huge opportunity to make a positive social impact on disempowered communities and non-profits worldwide through mission-driven merchandising. By harnessing the powerful pull of an Entertainment property like the Jurassic World franchise, and connecting it to the demand for purposeful, artisan goods in the home décor, fashion, and gifting categories, we believe we can spark a new, meaningful era in licensed consumer goods,” Keehn added.
The collection champions ancient crafts techniques, putting the spotlight on different styles adopted by the artists to develop the unique product line — from wood carving to hand weaving. Visually infused with Jurassic World motifs are cotton pillows, kids’ terry cloth towels, wooden dining plates, blankets, and bags.
“Inspired by the theme of coexistence, Jurassic World and Accompany are releasing a first-of-its-kind collection that celebrates the traditional crafts of local artisans around the world. This unique and beautiful line showcases the wonder and awe of Jurassic World in a curated homewares collection,” said Marc Low, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Global Lifestyle Products for Universal Brand Development.
The items, with prices ranging from $12.99 to $100 USD are available at the brand’s website as well as via Ten Thousand Villages, a non-profit fair-trade organization that markets ethically made, handcrafted products made by artisans in over 25 countries. “Together, with Ten Thousand Villages, we’re highlighting the beauty and legacy of our shared past and support efforts for a positive future,” continues Low. 49 stores across the US host the collection, with conscious shoppers also being able to get their hands on one (or more) of these products by visiting the organization’s website.
Besides helping these communities advance their socioeconomic status, the Jurassic World x Accompany collection also contributes to “a brighter, more positive shared legacy on Earth.”
