Uncommon Creative Studio‘s first work for pet insurance company ManyPets (formerly known as Bought By Many) will surely put a big smile on pet parents’ faces. As for those who don’t own a pet and were having doubts about getting a dog or a cat, this campaign will probably answer some of their question on what life is like when living with a pet, as the initiative is built on a survey commissioned by the award-winning cat and dog insurance brand.
385 pet parents were asked about the health benefits of owning a pet and the results were pretty amazing: 89% of those questioned believe their pet helps them deal with anxiety and stress. 90% confess their furry friend helps them feel calm. 80% agree on the fact that their animals give them more energy. 88% admit that their pets make them more active. And 96% explain that owning a pet makes them feel happier.
OK, so maybe reading these numbers is not convincing enough so how about you try to really understand this data by admiring a series of posters that capture the sweet and cute portraits of actual cats and dogs? This is exactly what the London-based agency did for the brand, aiming to show that the four-legged friends play an important role in helping humans experience such positive vibes.
In ManyPets’ own words, pets “look after us, so let’s look after them.” And one way pet owners can ensure this happens is to have a good insurance plan for their buddy because if you think about it, there is a beneficial symbiosis between the two.
Ryan Wheaton, Global Creative and Brand Director, ManyPets, said: “No one can deny that the relationship between pet and pet parents brings incredible mutual benefit. Despite this, it can be difficult to articulate what pets really mean to us. Uncommon have managed to capture our bond in a compelling way, highlighting the limitless ways our pets look after us. In return, pet parents are looking for more ways to keep their pets happy and healthy for longer, and ManyPets is here to help ensure that happiness. We’re so excited to see the campaign in the wild.”
Since the launch of ManyPets, the brand has been working on making a better place for both pets and their parents. The new outdoor initiative represents an important step in the company’s adventure: As the insurance firm expands its portfolio, the campaign further highlights the commitment and care the insurer has for animals and their humans.
“Pets make everything better. They don’t only bring us joy, they also have a proven positive impact on both our mental and physical wellbeing. In a world of stress and chaos, pets are more important than ever. We spotted there was a huge role and tension for ManyPets to play here. We wanted to remind people that they have to insure their pets to ensure their happiness. Plus, this was one more weapon in my war of attrition trying to persuade my husband to let us have a dog…,” continued Lucy Jameson, Co-founder, Uncommon.
The posters showcase close-up shots of cats and dogs, each illustration being accompanied by a copy set to make people reflect on the positive benefits they can enjoy when owning a pet. They are anti-stress balls (of fur), personal trainers, and even a perfectly legal dose of “high.” These adorable beings give humans so much that “Insuring our pets is the least we can do for them, don’t you think?”
Following the outdoor campaign — which is visible across the UK in July and August — is a series of short films, each with a different ending. Created by Uncommon and directed by James Rouse through Biscuit Filmworks, the “mini”-videos represent the next chapter in the “Insure your Happiness” campaign, showcasing a pet owner during what seems to be a therapy session. With tears of joy in her eyes, she thanks her therapist for supporting her. But as the camera zooms out, the audience discovers that the specialist “taking notes” about the “patient’s” mental state is, in fact, her pet.
Commenting on this new stage of the campaign, Wheaton said: “We wanted to make something that stands out in ad breaks, and connects more emotionally with pet parents. The team at Uncommon have cleverly captured each pets’ natural empathy, and brought memorable, adorable humor to our screens.”
A pet is more than just a trustful companion. A dog or a cat can be a therapist, mentor, life coach, wellness instructor, or counselor. Hit play on the videos below to discover how suitable such roles are for our adorable pets.
