Morgal Café is an inspiring place where art, people, and ideas meet in a unique city space. People behind the café are attempting to revive the “genius loci” and continue the history of the Governor’s palace (Místodržitelský palác, Brno, Czech Republic) in a new context.

During the renovation of the interior, an amazing and rare Baroque fresco was discovered, which has the art world scraping their chins off the floor.

The exclusivity of the renovated space is down to the sensitive approach of architect and designer, Martin Hrdina, who has tapped into the memory of the space to try and create a new tradition of encounters with art.

Adding to the uniqueness of this space, chairs from a local company called Ton were brought in and underwent a lovely makeover form a local artist. Ton manufacture furniture using a manual bending technique pioneered in 1861 in the company’s hometown of Bystřice pod Hostýnem.

The cafe will offer great coffee, breakfasts, soups, sweets, salads, homemade lemonades from fresh ingredients, quality wines for visitors to the cafe and for visitors to the various events at the Moravian Gallery. Morgal complements your positive experiences with art by challenging your other senses.
