In honor of National Pride Month, Airbnb released a two minute film with vignettes of various Airbnb hosts and travelers, who also happen to be proudly gay. We meet Hasan Namir, a gay Muslim author and Airbnb travler; Chase Blodgett, an Airbnb host and transgender hockey player; and Park Cannon, an African-American gay Airbnb traveler and in the Georgia House of Representatives. What these three men have in common is that they’ve overcome discrimination by finding open communities. The video was also released a few days after the tragic Orlando incident.
Some may think the spot is a tad political, but a vibrant, innovative brand like Airbnb pulls this film off seamlessly. They aim to show the inclusivity of their own community, which holds such importance for the LGBTQ community as well, and therefore doesn’t feel contrived. It aligns with the values the brand inherently holds and acts on.
The film has reached over 1.8 million views on Facebook.
